The Minister of Basic Education, Professor Laurent Serge ETOUNDI NGOA proceeded on Friday, August 11, 2023 to the official launch of the UNESCO Chair of the African Institute of Informatics (IAI Cameroon) Center of Technological Excellence Paul BIYA. Placed under the theme “The institutional strategic partnership for the access of young people and women to information and communication technologies in Central Africa” ​​”Strategic and Institutional partnership for young people and women’s access to ICT in Central Africa”, this celebration took place in the presence of the Director of Planning, Projects and Cooperation, and the Director of Material and Financial Resources of MINEDUB. The ceremony was punctuated by the words of the Mayor of Nkol Afamba, Mr. Jean François Ondigui, the Resident Representative of IAI Cameroon, Mr. Armand Claude Abanda, the Secretary General of the National Commission for UNESCO, Mr. Abdoul -Aziz Yaouba and the representative of the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Professor Jean Paul Mbia Manga. Speaking, the Minister of Basic Education, who is also President of the National Commission for UNESCO, noted that Higher Education already has four (4) chairs. These are respectively the University of Buea, the Ecole Normale Supérieure of the University of Yaounde 1 and the most recent, the IAI Cameroon. Professor Laurent Serge ETOUNDI NGOA expressed the wish that all universities be endowed with a chair in at least one of their institutions. He recommended that citizens move towards information and communication technologies while preserving ethics. These festivities marked with solemnity at the start nevertheless ended in a friendly atmosphere.
