The Minister of Basic Education, Professor Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa chaired on Tuesday, August 8th, 2023 in Yaounde, the opening ceremony of the 18th session of the national commission for private basic education. It was in the presence of representatives of the Presidency of the Republic and the Prime Minister’s services; representatives of partners public and parapublic administrations; administrative authorities of the Center region, as well as municipality authorities of Mfoundi. The said work, placed under the theme: “Teacher in the basic education sector, the key link in performance and efficiency: advocacy for a new investment in quality”, aims to restore the condition of the teacher in private sector at the heart of any education system. In his opening speech, Professor Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa stressed that his “faith in the educational community is total”. Also, he trusts associations and other teaching unions to raise the demands and other frustrations of teaching staff. After recalling the problems that the basic education sub-sector in general and private basic education in particular are facing, the Minister of Basic Education noted the interest that the government has in the work of Yaounde . He also expressed the hope that the work would open up to realistic perspectives that would make diligent and relevant action possible. After the opening ceremony, work began with an inaugural lesson. For two days, participants worked on thematic, presentations and workshops. The closing ceremony of this traditional annual consultation on basic private education was on Wednesday, August 9th, 2023 in the afternoon.
