The Secretary of State to the Minister of Basic Education, Dr. Asheri Kilo Vivian chaired on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at the MINEDUB conference room, the second preparatory meeting for the celebration of the 58th edition of the International Literacy Day (ILD) 2024, scheduled in Yaoundé from September 9 to 10. Madam Secretary of State, in her introductory speech, invited all stakeholders to mobilize to meet the challenge of organizing this international event. On the occasion, the members of the various commissions set up by decisions of the Minister of Basic Education, took note of their respective specifications, as well as the agreement between the Government of the Republic of Cameroon (MINEDUB) and UNESCO. During the discussions that followed, the Inspector General of Services, Charles Nanga, suggested that the Head of the Legal Affairs Division and the Private Secretary to the Minister of Basic Education be part of the security committee, in order to be able to relay information in real time to the Minister of Basic Education. He then requested that the administrations involved in the organization of the JIA formally send the names of their representatives. The representative of the Ministry of External Relations (MINREX), for his part, wished to see the representatives of MINREX join the communication and protocol committees. Finally, the various committees were asked to submit their respective budgets to the Technical Committee no later than August 5, 2024.
