Multi sector validation of the National Policy of Inclusive Education (NPIE)

The Minister of Basic Education Pr Laurent Serge ETOUNDI NGOA, the Minister of Secondary Education Pr Nalova LYONGA accompanied by some government officials chaired the Multi sector validation of the National Policy of Inclusive Education (NPIE) at the conference hall of Mont Febe Hotel today Tuesday October 8th 2024 in Yaounde with the singing of the national anthem using an inclusive approach.
The representative of the Yaounde city Mayor, Mr Palalou MIDJINYAWA gave a welcome speech by saluting the presence of everyone and gave the raison d’être of this ceremony which is centered on reading and validating the multisectorial national policy on inclusive education. He expressed the government’s appreciation on this important event, which marks a new beginning of a practical inclusive education in Cameron, in all the education and training sector. These nee practical measures which is to ensure access to equitable, quality life long learning education to all children of school age with special needs, shall go a great way through the means of sensitization and mobilisation of resources at the legislative level, education and training programs, technical methods, module of evaluation and lastly training centers.
Taking the floo, the Minister of Basic Education Pr Laurent Serge ETOUNDI NGOA thanked the participants, especially ministries in the education and training sector, which are;

  • (MINESEC, MINESUP,MINEFOP,MINJEC and MINEDUB) alongside technical and financial partner ministries (MINAS, MINPROFF,MINFI,MINDDEVEL,MINSANTE,MINAT) and other Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs),which has yielded good fruits.
    In his speech, the Minister highlights the reasons for this workshop after a world summit on the transformation of education to meet MDG4 held in New York from the 16th – 19th September 2022. The engagement taken was the system designed by the government to ensure equal access at all levels of education and vocational training,to all categories of the population, including the socially vulnerable with the view to either pre-schooling, schooling or vocational training.
    Furthermore, in a progressive scenario,the government, through the (NPIE), will focus on three main areas of interventions, namely,
    *Improving access and social protection for people with special needs in education and training institutions.
    *Increasing the participation of people with special needs in teaching and learning activities, training institutions.
    *Increasing the participation of people with special needs in teaching and learning activities, training assessment system, and co- and extracurricular activities.
    *Improving school governance and developing partnerships.
    In the next 5 years, the government has taken upon itself to make sure inclusive education is attained in all it’s terrorists especially in the educational and training sectors via
  • Transform 1289 education structures and training centres targeting education structures or inclusive centres.
    -Recrute and train 8075 teachers and educative structure trainers.
    Our vision is to ensure by 2027 at least 25% of people with special needs with an equitable, inclusive and quality education,as well as the development of professional skills and opportunities for lifelong learning in an adapted, healthy and protective environment, thereby declaring the ceremony open.
    After a musical interlude by Phil-B, two presentations were displayed and presented by the Director of Nursery and Primary Education Dr MINFOUMOU OLO’O Louis epse EDOU and the sub director of primary education Mr ANDELA YVES Placide moderated by Pr Laurent Serge ETOUNDI NGOA Minister of Basic Education.
    Phase three of the workshop is still coordinated by the Minister of Basic Education. Pr Laurent Serge ETOUNDI NGOA was engrossed with specific remarks, recommendations, and way forward. The closing ceremony ended with family photos and singing of the national anthem.
