The Minister of Basic Education, Professor Laurent Serge ETOUNDI NGOA, today, July 23, 2024, granted an audience in his cabinet to three officials from the World Food Programme(WFP) Cameroon in the presence of two of his close collaborators, the Director of the of Planning, Project and Cooperations Division, Mrs. ELOBO Lizette and the Director of School Health, Sports and Extra Curricular activities Department, Mrs. AYUKEGBA Evelyn. The purpose of this come together was to appreciate the work and efforts of the country representative of WFP, Dr. WANJA Kaaria for the past years on duty in Cameroon and to wish her farewell back to her base. It was with so much emotion that the Minister magnified and appreciated all what the WFP has been doing for the government in general and Basic Education in particular through the school feeding programme in a bit to increase access to basic education, alleviate malnutrition as well as to foster economic Empowerment of the local population. In her own farewell speech, she thanked the Minister for the wonderful collaboration that exists between both institutions. She greatly appreciated the professional and technical nature of the team she had always been assigned to work with from the Ministry. She reminded the Minister that he had proposed that the next celebration of World School Feeding Day be done out of Yaounde and that three countries are solicitating the school feeding model elaborated and implemented in Cameroon. Consequently, they will be in need of this team from the Ministry that helped to conceive this Feeding model to accompany them to these countries. She strongly recommended that through the Minister’s support and engagement, this programme can become successful and global. The Minister expressed satisfaction with the work done so far and hoped that an industrious and dynamic official would be sent to take her place. With some photographs to immortalise this separation, final goodbye was said.
