Friday June 28, 2024 from 2 p.m., Professor Laurent Serge ETOUNDI NGOA, Minister of Basic Education, granted an audience to Mr. Paul COUSTERE, Director and Representative of the UNESCO Multisectoral Regional Office for Central Africa. For the occasion, the Minister of Basic Education was accompanied by Doctor Vivian Asheri Kilo, Secretary of State to the Minister of Basic Education, Mr. Adams Daniel Oyono, Secretary General of the Ministry of Basic Education and the Head of the Legal Affairs Division and the Director of Literacy, Non-Formal Basic Education and the Promotion of National Languages This meeting aimed to organize the global celebration of the International Day of Literacy which will be held in September 2024. During the interview, Mr. Paul COUSTERE indicated that the technical teams from UNESCO and MINEDUB will continue to work collegially. Furthermore, the MINEDUB team should highlight the issue of decentralization as well as everything that is done in terms of literacy during the event. The Minister of Basic Education appreciated the fact that the above-mentioned teams work together. He reassured that with the help of his closest collaborators, he will assess the feasibility of certain activities linked to the global celebration of International Literacy Day, so that the expected results are achieved.
