The Minister of Basic Education chaired this Wednesday, August 09, 2023 in Yaounde, the official presentation ceremony of the website platform and the delivery of georeferencing equipment. It was in the presence of representatives of technical and financial partners including UNESCO, UNICEF, AFD; sectoral administrations, among others. During his speech, Professor Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa underlined the importance of the georeferenced map of the Ministry of Basic Education. An instrument which, according to the Minister of Basic Education, will now allow all stakeholders in the education system to better capture the educational needs of the population, reduce disparities and inequalities in the system and rationalize the management of the resources assigned to it. The website platform is therefore a revolutionary tool which will allow in one click to have a digital visualization of the geographical distribution of preschool, primary, literacy and non-formal education establishments, he continued. This process was carried out thanks to the financial and technical support of the French development agency (AFD) and UNESCO, respectively. Also, the Minister of Basic Education expressed the government’s deep gratitude to these technical and financial partners. Opportunity for Professor Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa to also discuss the letter of congratulations from the Prime Minister, Head of Government, of April 13, 2023, addressed to the Minister of Basic Education, through which he noted, in a manner very satisfactory, the creation of the georeferenced school map of primary and nursery education, as part of the flagship actions carried out during the 2022 financial year, by MINEDUB.
